No house plant is indestructible. However, there are a feisty few that can’t be beat for their tolerance of light, water, and humidity. If you want easy success with house plants, we recommend these 6 House Plants Evan You Can’t Kill:
Note: They’re not impossible to kill, but we think even the laziest of gardener could manage to keep them alive!
Mother-In-Law’s Tongue
With its massive strappy leaves and broad appearance, this plant has become a perennial favorite of homes around the world. Not only is it overtly attractive and somewhat unique; the plant is super tough and can bounce back from weeks of neglect, if needed. Of course, we would never encourage neglect, but if you happen to be the forgetful type, this could be the houseplant for you. Even cooler, the snake plant is known for its air purification properties, helping keep the atmosphere in your home clean.
Pothos
Pothos or Devil’s Ivy – This vigorous plant is well known for its long, trailing stems that can grow to 8 feet or more. Cut them back a couple times a year to keep the plant bushy and full. Pothos is forgiving if you forget to water it once in a while, but it doesn’t like waterlogged soil.
Air plant
These clever little plants don’t need soil to grow. Instead, they’ll attach themselves to things like trees or rocks. They are perfect for people with minimal space, as you can pop them in a hanging terrarium or sit them in a dish or on an ornament and let ’em grow! As the name suggests, these plants need lots of air to thrive so don’t overcrowd them. Protect them from full sun and mist once or twice a week with a spray bottle. Soak them in water every few weeks then pop them back in their happy place.
Spider Plant
Spider plants are a popular indoor plant choice as they help improve the air quality of your home. This plant requires light so make sure it’s near a south- or west-facing window, but keep it out of direct light as the leaves can scorch. Water occasionally.
